Current Artwork, August 2012
Hello. A few people have asked so I thought I'd post pictures of the pieces I currently have onhand. I'll be at EM on 7th Street, SE each weekend, weather permitting, until the end of September. All works are original. Contact me for dimensions if they're not listed. I have more pieces than what I'm showing here - mostly smaller pieces. The prices on the pieces below will not be changing. Also, I can recommend a very good and reasonable framer downtown on K Street if you need one. Thanks, Cherie

As most of you may know, after a long and rewarding career in the visual arts, I'm in the process of transitioning into a new field to become a Holistic Health Coach and Nutritional Counselor. I'll be finishing up school this fall, and soon after will be giving up my space at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. Many thanks to all those who have supported me over the years! I've been very lucky to have had so many collectors in the Washington, DC area for so long. Although I won't be making anymore new works, (the last pieces I've made are shown above, from March 2012) I might still do a few commissions, so feel free to ask me if you're interested. Also feel free to email me your address in case I have an "art night" sometime in 2013 and I can send you an invitation (I think an annual "art night" sounds like a pretty fun thing to do:) In addition to the pieces above, I still have works available that can be found on this blog - the ones that aren't marked "Sold". Make an appointment or email me for future Eastern Mkt dates if you'd like to see anything in person. Thanks so much again, Cherie

Fantastic Framing!
A very nice email & photo I just received from a lovely new customer in upper NW, DC. Her frame selection is wonderful and just perfect for this piece! Here is her kind email:
Hi Cherie,
Was nice seeing you over the weekend at Eastern Market. As I promised, I'm sending a photo of the wonderful piece I bought from you in late 2011.
As you can see, it is now framed and hanging with pride in my condo. I purposely had it framed in a simple manner so as not to take away from the intricacies of the piece itself.
Thanks, again, for creating such an amazing piece.

Horizontal Orange Original Mixed-Media Piece
SOLD
Horizontal orange mixed-media piece. Looks teriffic in a sleek champagne-colored frame (as shown). Mixed-media: hundreds of strips of text & illustration from an old design book, layered paint, graphite & wax on canvas. Museum board matting and mounting (acid-free). Approx finished size is 32" x 40". I can recommend a very good (and reasonable) framer at 18th and K Streets if you live in the DC area. Over the past 2 years I've made several different pieces using this color (with bits of red & yellow). I have one left that I've recently made - and it's a horizontal piece like this. In the future, this type of piece will be available only by a custom order ($100 non-refundable down/2 weeks to complete & avail either horizontal or vertical). If you are interested in seeing the one I have left, shoot me an email. The price is $450. Thanks, Cherie: cherielester@prodigy.net

Come see me this Sunday, April 29th, when I'll be setting up at Eastern Market on 7th Street, Capitol Hill (weather permitting, of course!) If you can't make it to the market that weekend, feel free to email me to arrange for a visit to my studio in Woodley Park. Thanks! cherielester@prodigy.net

New Piece, Mid-February 2012
SOLD
While I'm on a week-long, winter break from school, I decided it's been way too long since I've made any new art. So, I made a trip to Utrecht (art supplies), pulled out some paints, and decided it was time to exercise my right-brain and create something. Here is the double ink painting I just finished matting (yellow/red, approx 32"x35"). I've played with this design before and really liked it - which resulted in my keeping them for myself (which I'm tempted to do with this one, but won't. I think....) Two others (not yet pictured) are in-the-works and I hope to have them finished over the next few days. I'm back to school next Monday, but in the meantime, if we have one of our freaky-nice winter days on Saturday (2/18), I might show up at Eastern Market on 7th Street. Sunny, in the 50s, no wind...just maybe!
